The Art Style of Josh Agle

Josh Agle, known by his artist name Shag, is an American artist and illustrator born in 1962. He studied at California State University, Fullerton and later worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for various clients, including The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. Records, and Universal Pictures.

In the early 2000s, Agle began creating his signature mid-century modern-inspired artwork featuring bold, colorful designs and sharp lines, which he calls "Shag art." His art often depicts stylized scenes of retro lifestyles, tiki bars, and lounges.

Agle has gained a significant following and has exhibited his work in galleries worldwide. He has also created illustrations for various magazines and books, including The New Yorker and Playboy. His artwork has been used by many companies for commercial products, such as limited edition Tiki mugs, and his designs have also been adapted for clothing, textiles, and other merchandise.
